Gingham is said to have originated in either Malaysia or France in the 17th century and started more like a stripe than a check. In around 1800 it was adopted and popularized by the English and Dutch and became the checked pattern we know today. Often produced in a cotton or muslin fabric. French General Woven Gingham in shades of red, blue and natural are the perfect addition for all your quilts and sewing projects.
